The Vampiress and the Siren are often imagined as distant, unattainable, or emotionally guarded. I have never understood them that way. The sea has always offered one of my favorite lessons about love. Water is free flowing. It cannot be possessed, nor does it ask every shoreline to take the same shape. It moves with honesty, adapting without abandoning its nature. I believe healthy relationships share that same wisdom. They are not sustained through ownership, insecurity, or control, but through trust, openness, mutual respect, and the continual choice to honor one another.
For this reason, the Maison does not prescribe a single blueprint for love. Human relationships have always taken many forms across cultures, identities, and throughout history. Some people find fulfillment in lifelong romance, others in deep friendship, chosen family, devoted partnerships, expansive communities, or a life centered upon self-discovery. The form itself is not what gives love its beauty. Rather, it is the honesty, loyalty, integrity, and devotion with which we live it.
For me, betrayal has never been defined by someone choosing a different path than I would choose for myself. Betrayal begins when honesty is abandoned. When trust is broken through deception. When promises freely made are quietly discarded. Whatever shape our relationships take, they deserve openness, truthfulness, and the mutual respect that allows genuine devotion to flourish. Love cannot thrive where honesty has been forgotten.
