Within my own practice, however, the Hawk reveals something even more primal.

It is easy to soften the Hawk into little more than a symbol of vision or awareness, yet doing so overlooks one of her defining truths. The Hawk is a hunter. She is an apex aerial predator. Her extraordinary eyesight did not evolve simply so she could admire the landscape. It evolved so she could identify opportunity, commit herself fully, and secure what she needs to survive.

Nature does not apologize for this reality.

The Hawk does not question whether she deserves her prey. She does not hesitate because another creature desires the same prize. She understands that pursuit is part of the natural order. Observation becomes strategy. Strategy becomes action. Action becomes acquisition.

As human beings, we are not so different.

We hunt for knowledge, opportunity, security, prosperity, healing, influence, love, and achievement. We pursue careers, businesses, artistic dreams, education, and the futures we imagine for ourselves. There are seasons for contemplation, but there are equally seasons for relentless execution. Vision without movement remains only potential.
